This is J.I. Mardones and I am a chilean/texan filmmaker.

 

I was born on December 16th, 1987, in Austin TX (USA).

 

Then, in 1992, at 4 years old, I moved with my family to Santiago de Chile, where I lived for 30 years.

 

In 1997, at 9 years old, I saw Star Wars for the first time being through that saga that I discovered my passion for filmmaking and storytelling.

 

In 2008 I began to attend the Film & TV Direction program at University of Chile, from where I graduated in 2015.

 

From 2015 to 2020 I worked in brand activations and corporate video projects where I developed my professional skills as a camera operator, location sound recordist and video editor.

 

In 2021 I started J.I. Mardones Films, my production company, life project and safe place where I create cinematic styled videos and one year later I moved back to Austin TX, my hometown, in order to begin a new life and consolidate my career as a filmmaker.​

 

From 2022 to 2025 I made a reputation as one of the most proficient video directors in Austin, specializing in events and fashion films, even being featured on local press media and podcasts.

 

Currently, in 2026, I am working on my first short film as screenwritter and director, which is expected to be premiered in film festivals in 2027.
